In the distribution center of the Albert retail chain in the village of Klecany near Prague, loaders found 646 kg of cocaine, TN Nova reports with reference to the press secretary of the National Center for Combating Drugs Lucia Shmoldasova.
“Employees of the distribution center of the Albert trading network, while unloading pallets with bio-bananas, found suspicious packages, and therefore contacted the police. As a result of the check, it turned out that these packages contain a narcotic substance, namely cocaine, in total about 646 kilograms,” Shmoldasova said.
Bananas with cocaine arrived in the Czech Republic from Ecuador via Amsterdam. This is one of the largest drug shipments intercepted in the country.
The market value of this batch of cocaine is about 2 billion crowns ($90 million). One gram of cocaine costs 3,000 crowns ($136) in the Czech Republic, Shmoldasova added.
At the end of June, FCS found cocaine in bananas. The incident took place in St. Petersburg. 50 kg of cocaine were found in bananas, the cost of the batch was 450 million rubles. “According to the documents, the cargo followed from the countries of the African continent in transit through Europe to Uzbekistan on various sea vessels. The drugs were detected by customs officers when scanning the container with the help of the inspection complex,” the FCS said in a statement.
