Dismiss or not \!

New means the best ‘possible — if we talk about fashion. But if we are talking about furniture, then the opposite is true. No wonder so many antique stores are trading in old furniture. Probably the fact is that before the furniture was made more durable, more solid than now. If the house has old furniture, then it gives some special, solemn atmosphere.

Of course, furniture during use loses an attractive appearance. Water getting, mechanical damage, frequent crossings, inaccurate treatment — all this in the most detrimental way affects the condition of furniture. Sooner or later, the question will arise before you: what to do with old furniture — try to repair or still “dismiss”, of course, no one will forbid you to send an old thing to a landfill. But you should not make hasty decisions, because buying new furniture will always cost you more than the repair of the old!

There are main methods of repairing furniture — this is the restoration of compounds of components of damaged furniture; elimination of cracks and holes; restoration of damaged finishes; Uprising upholstery. Of course, it is better to invite specialists to update the upholstery and restoration of decorations. But it is quite possible to cope with the simpler tasks.

The most common problem is the weakening of adhesive compounds. For example, boxes in a closet or chest of drawers may dry out of long use. In this case, it is necessary to remove the old glue, then give the tree a light roughness and glue the tree with a PVA glue. At the same time, do not forget to squeeze the glued surfaces so that the glue is saturated.

For compounds subject to serious loads, epoxy glue is used. It is characterized by increased strength and moisture resistance, therefore, with its help, it is logical to glue furniture for the bathroom or furniture designed for heavy objects, such as book shelves. Among all epoxy adhesives presented on the market, contact should especially be noted as the most reliable and convenient to use.

The second significant problem is cracks, dents and spots. If there are few of them, then you can limit yourself to cosmetic repairs.

Salt and lemon juice are used to remove ink blitches, which are rubbed repeatedly into the spot. Ring white spots from a varnished surface are removed using a polish for metal. This is an abrasive, so work with it carefully using soft moist fabric.

Sherbins and scratches on polishing are eliminated using a colorless transparent nail polish. Let it freeze and clean the surface with a damp thin grinder. To mask shallow scratches, you can use a felt -tip pen, suitable in color.

And finally, the last problem is old accessories. Highly clouded brass parts can be restored by leaving them at night in ketchup (of course, first they need to be removed from furniture). Products from which the old varnish is partially rubbed should be treated with a chemical cleaner and with varnish again. The loops due to long use begin to sag, if it is not possible to adjust, then there is only one way out — to change. Disrupted decorative details can easily be returned to the place with a super-cell. Use a special cleaner that comes with some adhesives — it guarantees accuracy and lack of stains.

We listed the simplest methods of repairing furniture, but, we promise, they will greatly rejuvenate your furniture. Sometimes you need to make very little effort to get an excellent result. And the question of getting rid of old furniture and buying a new one will disappear. For a while…
